Incubion supported Japan’s first
fully autonomous robot-guided tour at MIZKAN MUSEUM (Handa, Aichi Japan), an interactive museum operated by MIZKAN Group.

The robot now conducts tours that were previously carried out by dedicated staff. The system enables visitors to be guided through the space while receiving commentary on key exhibits—without a human intervention from start to finish.

To help the museum achieve more resilient operations while enhancing visitor experience, we supported a comparative trial of three robot models. Each was tested for two weeks to determine whether unmanned robot-guided tours could maintain the quality of the visitor experience.

Incubion worked closely with the museum to capture its on-site needs and translate them into feasible, safety-focused operational scenarios. We then established evaluation criteria and supported the museum in selecting the model best suited to its requirements.

For the full-scale deployment of the selected model, we defined the requirements for modifications to the robot itself needed to coordinate the robot’s guidance with exhibit movements and to ensure operational safety, and worked with the vendor to implement them.

The robot now automatically conducts around 20 tours a day in line with the museum’s regular tour schedule, and the solution has become well established as one appreciated by both museum staff and visitors.
